As it was announced earlier, the DVD tribute
to Alderson Indians Football is available on DVD. Now that I've seen
it, I'd like to pass along a description of the DVD.
As one that has more than a causal interest in "all things
Alderson", I was anxious to watch it. My first
impression was it has many photos I've never seen before. The video,
although not professional, it does use certain techniques that you
would be familiar with and the quality of the source wasn't very
good a times. Some of us weren't around when these photos were
taken.
There is an issue between certain still black and white photos and
the animation of the camera moving back or across the photo. It
produces a light herringbone pattern over the screen similar to
scanners when they scan certain photos. This is not too distracting.
With most of the emphases on the visual, shots of the statistical
and textual nature are lost.
The sound is very good using the recording "Boys of
the Fall" by Kenny Chesney. There is another song that follows that
I wasn't familiar with. Jenny Keadle said there was a problem with
the sound system at the Alumni banquet, however you won't experience
any sound problems with the DVD when you play it on you home system
for it is fine. Not too bad for a
first time production. If someone doesn't document it, it will be
lost. Not to neglect the other important
fact, the funds from the DVD are donated to the Alderson Community
Center. The cost is 20.00 plus a small postage.
If you have an interest in Alderson sports
this is worth having considering the funds go to a good cause.
