Alderson Community Food Hub Update

Dear ACFH Community-
A lot of great things are happening with the Food Hub right now and we’d like to give you some updates:
Market:

Join
us
for
Autumn
Fest
on
Tuesday,
October
9th,
to
celebrate
the
conclusion
of
our
regular
market
season. Festivities will take place from 4-7 pm at the Alderson Visitor’s Center.
·
We’re
selling
tickets
at
market
each
week
for
our
September
25th
raffle
basket
drawing.
Tickets
are
$1.00
each
or
six
for
$5.00.
Basket
items
will
include:
Chuck
Roast
from
Swift
Level
Fine
Meats,
Triple
Chocolate
Brownies
from
Pie
in
the
Sky
Farm,
T-Shirt
from
Sunset
Berry
Farm,
Tupperware
products
from
Katie
Kensinger,
cured
and
cleaned
hardshell
gourds
from
Old
Otter
Holler
Farm,
braid
of
garlic
from
T.L.
Fruits
and
Vegetables,
assorted
baked
goods
from
Fruits
of
Labor,
and
produce from Sprouting Farms.

Our
Tuesday
market
has
been
so
successful
this
year
that
we’re
exploring
the
possibility
of
an
indoor
market this winter. Stay tuned for details!
Education:
Would
you
like
to
get
involved
with
our
gardening
and
nutrition
programming
at
Alderson
Elementary
School?
We’re
looking
for
volunteers
to
help
with
our
classroom
programs
and
afterschool
Farmers
Club.
Please
join
us
for
a
meeting
this
Wednesday,
September
19th
at
6:30
at
Alderson
Elementary
School.

Frankferd Farms:
For
those
of
you
who
miss
the
specialty/bulk
foods
at
the
Green
Grocer,
you
can
still
order
many
such
items
through
our
Frankferd
Farms
monthly
buyer’s
club.
It
costs
nothing
to
join.
Just
go
to
the
FF
website
(
http://frankferd.com
)
to
check
out
their
online
catalog,
or
check
out
a
print
catalog
available
at
Market
on
Tuesdays.
Members
will
gain
access
to
another
online
catalog
with
discounted
prices.
Place
your
order
online
or
by
phone
by
Thursday,
September
20th-but
the
earlier
the
better-
for
a
delivery
the
week
of
September
24th.
Patti
Grafton
is
our
local
coordinator,
and
she’ll
let
you
know
when
your
order
is
available
for
pick-up
at
the
Visitor’s
Center.
If
you
have

The
club
must
reach
a
$450
minimum
total
each
month
in
order
for
our
local
delivery
to
happen,
so
every
order
helps!
