OK, so it may not be so far away but Alderson Main Street is offering a fabulous mini-getaway to this charming town.It will be an evening in Alderson they will never forget for the winning ticket holder and 5 of their family and friends. The drawing for this great prize will be held on September 2nd and the winner notified by phone.Included in this wonderful package is accommodation for 6 at the Historic Old Victorian Inn in Alderson on October 19th. Imagine yourself sitting in the parlor of the Inn enjoying hors d’oeuvres and good conversation prior to being served a gourmet dinner in the beautifully appointed dining room.The gourmet dinner will be prepared by “Chef” Rich Lohmeyer, a local Pastor who has quite a reputation in the area as a great cook. He started cooking back on the farm with his Mom, and helped pay his way through Seminary by working in the kitchen and cooking. He loves to read cook books and is always ready to try new recipes. He has been auctioned off as a “Chef” many times for fund raisers at his churches; cooked for Oktoberfest at two churches; prepared corned beef and cabbage St. Patrick's Day dinners several times; and was a part of the “Men Who Cook” fund raiser for Communities in Schools this year. Lohmeyer’s idea of relaxing is to cook a huge meal with new recipes, although nothing is ever too complicated or takes too long. Soups are a specialty.After a good night’s rest in the comfy private bedrooms, there will be a scrumptious breakfast at the Inn. Then it will be time for shopping as the winner will receive gift certificates for shopping at local merchants: $25.00 from Alderson’s Store, $25.00 from the Artisan’s Gallery, $25.00 from Bridgewalk Shops and a gift basket from Sunset Berry Farms.Tickets are available at the shops and Visitor’s Center in Alderson or by calling 304-445-7348.
