JULY 18, 2019 Meeting
REPORTS
AMS had hosted three ribbons cuttings for new Alderson businesses since last meeting. Great
press and good feeling from the business owners. Very much appreciated by all.
The pledge of $18,000. To the Community Center from AMS was greatly appreciated and it helped
reach their goal of $100,000.00 so they can now proceed with the bidding process for the new roof.
The Concert in Alumni on June 22 went well, low attendance. Thank Doris Kasley and Judy
Lohmeyer for providing birthday cake for West Virginia, everyone enjoyed it. Needed more
advertisement.
Discussion of the new plantings in the common areas of town. Thanks too many for making
everything beautiful for July 4th. A lion for the Monroe side was discussed, Judy Lewallen reported she
and Doris Kasley were working on it and they would present a bid to the Finance Committee for same.
Ice cream social held at the Alderson Train Depot on Saturday, July 6 was a huge success. About
150 ice cream cones were served. Special thanks to Jim Bowling for providing a freezer to keep our ice
cream solid.
New Business
Barbara Bowling ask about plans for the Grand Illumination. She stated that Lynda Howe was
interested in contracting to spear head the project. Judy suggested that Lynda should submit a bid
(contract) to the finance committee detailing what her plan would be.
Discussion regarding need for more information and directions needed during town events - 4th of
July - Strawbery Fesitival – concerts.
Announcement
Bricktop Concert on the Memorial Bridge Sunday, August 18 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Rich and Judy Lohmeyer will make Hot dogs, chips and drinks available for sale. HELP IS NEEDED!
