Need

bargain

The
Bargain
Box
on
Walnut
Avenue
in
Alderson
may
have
what
you
need.
Randolph
“Joe”
Baker
has
used
washers,
dryers,
refrigerators,
and
electric
stoves
at
bargain prices.
This
new
business
takes
in
appliances,
cleans
them,
and
repairs
them
if
needed.
If
the
appliance
cannot
be
repaired,
usable
parts
are
removed
and
the
rest
is
donated
the
the
ROTC
program
at
Greenbrier
East
High
School.
Washers
usually
sell
for
around
$200;
dryers
for
$150;
electric
stoves
for
$150;
and
refrigerators
for
$275.
A
$25
discount
is
given
if
an
old
appliance
is
traded
in.
All
appliances
are
given
a
30
day warranty. If they stop running during that time they will be repaired or replaced.
Baker
said,
“A
lot
of
people
cannot
afford
to
buy
new
so
this
shop
meets
a
need.”
Lonnie
Spencer
is
his
able assistant in the business.
Mayor
Travis
Copenhaver
said,
“These
guys
are
keeping
usable
appliances
out
of
the
land
fill
and
helping
people who might not be able to buy something new. It works for everyone.”
