Blue Sulphur Springs Update
November 15 - 2018
We
have
one
more
application
in
from
which
we
have
not
yet
heard.
We
plan
to
apply
for
a
State
Historic
Preservation
Grant
in
the
spring
and
hope
to
start
work
on
strengthening
and
waterproofing
the
foundation
next summer. Meanwhile, it is stable and the drainage is better, although not perfect.
We
are
at
a
point
where
the
more
work
we
can
do
at
one
time
the
less
expensive
it
is.
If
we
do
only
a
small
amount
of
work
we
still
have
bid
advertising
costs,
mobilization
costs,
demobilization
costs
and
oversight
costs.
We
have
to
balance
continuing
to
move
forward
with
the
cost
efficiencies
of
bidding
larger
blocks
of
work. The Friends of the Blue Committee continues to evaluate these issues.
We
appreciate
so
much
the
support
we
get
locally
and
from
all
over
the
country.
Donations
can
be
sent
to
the
Greenbrier
Historical
Society,
814
Washington
Street
West,
Lewisburg,
WV
24901.
Just
put
"The
Blue"
in the memo line. All contributions for the Blue go into a separate account. THANK YOU!
We
received
a
question
about
the
status
of
the
reconstruction
of
the
Blue.
We
would
like
to
move
faster
but
everything
takes
funding.
We
have
received
some
great
support
and
need
more.
We
applied
for
a
Transportation
Alternatives
grant
since
the
Blue
was
a
hub
of
transportation
in
its
day
with
daily
stagecoach
runs
between
Lewisburg
and
Charleston
in
the
"season".
However,
we
did
not
get
that grant.
We
have
