In Case You Haven't Heard Vol. 2
Barry Worrell 12-09

This just in: 12-30-2009-It was just reported on the news 13 states have threaten a law suite if the government follows through with giving the state of Nebraska an exemption through 2016 on paying their share of health care cost. Could it be another sign of the American people are totally fed up with the feds? Looks like my idea on a boycott won't be necessary. This is one to follow.

When I wrote my tongue-in-cheek piece on boycotting a state, the question came up; Where is the GOP's bill for Health Care? And I put the link to the GOP's solution on the comments section of the article. This is the link if you're interested.  GOP  and go to the Health Care link on the page.

The question was certainly valid. Where is the GOP's bill? Here are a couple of facts.

1. If you're watching ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, or any other liberal media, you won't find them talking about it. Mostly what you will hear is how much the GOP is against the Democrats' bill and how they're doing everything they can to stop it. You'll most likely have to find it out on Fox News.

2. Even if the GOP bill was brought up the Democratic controlled congress would and did deny if from being voted on.

Here is essence of the GOP bill.

  • Number one:  Let families and businesses buy health insurance across state lines.

  • Number two:  Allow individuals, small businesses, and trade associations to pool together and acquire health insurance at lower prices, the same way large corporations and labor unions do.

  • Number three:  Give states the tools to create their own innovative reforms that lower health care costs.

  • Number four:  End junk lawsuits that contribute to higher health care costs by increasing the number of tests and procedures that physicians sometimes order not because they think it's good medicine, but because they are afraid of being sued.

This is fixing the system, not creating another one.  Imagine your car needs some repairs and the government tells you have to get a new one from them, one that they made. One from a company that has no experience in manufacturing automobiles.

Also, where was the bipartisan gestures that Obama promised when it came to passing legislation.

If you would like to do so you can read the Text of House GOP Health Care Reform Bill (PDF)

I know this may sound as if I'm advocating the GOP party but I'm not. A lot of the Republicans in Washington added their own little tid-bits to the Democrats' bill, which is disgraceful. But the GOP bill does not create another government run organization. And they will not also take over 6% of the American economy. I think it's a more sensible solution. I'm also thinking the Dems bill is not about health care at all. It just a bill loaded with pork to repay for the votes to put this administration in office.
