I'm still counting
there are some football lovers out there and they care about
the game and how it's changing.
Although the NFL is fighting it, there is a movement to
eliminate the kick-off, one of the most exciting aspects of
the game. The reason? Too many injuries. It seems there are
more than has been realized. However the latest research has
proven this to be true.
If you eliminate the
kick-off, what do you replace it with? Do you just come on
the field, toss the coin and the winner goes to the 25 yard
line and start playing? And do they do that after each
score? |
I heard one of the sports talk
radio shows discussing this and what could be done to replace the
kick-off. There were many ideas but I think I've solved the problem.
(Naturally) Below is my idea and if you think it boloney, we'll
discuss it in the comment box below. If your on Face Book and make
comments on someone's posts, it's the same thing. Don't be afraid.
Ladies and Gent (and football
fans everywhere), I present my idea.
Kicking team just puts three
players on the field (snapper, holder & kicker. Where they kick from
will be determined by the league.
Kicking team must get the process off in the same time as if they
were kicking an extra point with the defense on the field.
If any one of the three messes up, (bad snap, holder mishandles
ball, kicker shanks the ball, etc) it's a five yard penalty. How
many times they could try again, to be determined by league.
Receiving team only has one player to catch the ball.
If and where he catches the ball, will be where the receiving team
starts.
If the ball goes out of bounds that's where the receiving team
starts.
If he can't catch the ball because it goes out of the end zone, the
ball is returned to the 25 yard line.
If the receiver mishandles a catch and it stays in bounds, where the
ball stops in motion, or the receiver stops the ball, that's where
the receiving team starts. (Receiver must get to the ball as soon as
possible. There will be a penalty if receiver deliberately forwards
the ball in any manner.)
This presents the possibility of lots of drama without injury and
add a new dimension to the game.
I wait for your comments. |
