Dear AHS Members:
Joyce W. Housby

Have any of you lost your spouses to death?  I have and life is very lonely and not very exciting. Tom E. Housby (Nat) was a rare character  and so he is very much missed by everyone, particularly me.

I do not understand why one in a happily married couple goes on to the next life and leaves the other behind.  God knows but I cannot understand.

I am glad he did not have to suffer in his death and I am sure that he is adding to the characteristics of heaven.  Everyone says that I will soon see him in the next life.  Drop by the Fletcher Addition to the Alderson Cemetery and down over the hill you will see the Weeks Family lots.  He is buried there next to our son and I have marked his stone for a place for me to be buried.

This may be a sad column for The Aldersonian but the only way I know to make it happy is for you to visit his grave site and I will try to find something to put there for you to leave your name or maybe it would be better if you just come to the Gazebo that he poured a concrete platform for and did not get to finish.  Thanks to Tom Dameron, Ed Moody, other members of his class and other volunteers who finished the job.  I know he is proud. Now if we can get that ugly tree cut down and a nice Weeping Willow and a Pink Dogwood that would beautify the spot perfectly.  I know all of the other classes will think along these lines in making this an alumni spot.

Love you all and don't forget that big smile of Nat's.

Sincerely,

Joyce W. Housby
