NEWS RELEASE
Founded in 1963, the Greenbrier Historical Society is dedicated to community enrichment through education and preservation of the history and culture of the Greenbrier Valley. The Greenbrier Historical Society is a regional organization that serves the West Virginia counties of Greenbrier, Monroe, Summers, and Pocahontas.
BASKET OF COUNTRY GOODIES WINNER As a part of the Greenbrier Historical Society’s 2023 “Homes Among the Hills” Home Tour, visitors were offered the opportunity to guess the model years of five of the tractors on display by the Tahoe Antique Tractor Club. Many guests tried but it was hard! The person with the most right answers was Pam Harvit of Charleston. The basket of country goodies, provided by Mary Clay, was delivered to her last week. Harvit was extremely excited to have won. She said, “I owe it all to my grandfather from Pocahontas County who collected antique tractors. I am sure he was looking down on me.” Joe Clay, organizer of the display, did not make it easy to guess. The correct answers were 1—WC Allis Chalmers, serial number 1219, 1934; 2—Ford Ferguson 9N, serial number 221, 1939; 3—Farmall H, serial number 272 U, 1940; 4—Oliver, serial number 30342, 1952; and 5—John Deere, serial number 621174, 1940. Thanks to everyone who turned in a form and thanks to all for your support of the Greenbrier Historical Society.
