Politically I am an Independent. I
find something to dislike in both parties, mainly their penchant for
meddling in the affairs of other countries. Our first president
George Washington (probably our only truly great president) advised
his successors to mind their own business, for the most part they
have ignored that advice.
Being a compassionate person, though, I kind of pity the
Republicans. These days nobody likes them. (well, that's a slight
exaggeration, but it's hard to write a complete paragraph if you're
always qualifying what you say).
Take Mitt Romney. He's a nice looking man with a smile as big as
Ike's and as much teeth as Kirk Douglas. But people don't like him.
They like President Obama though they hate his policies. Hollywood
(with the exception of Clint Eastwood) hates all Republicans. They
even delayed giving John Wayne an Oscar for years because he was a
Republican.
Women don't like Republicans. Blacks don't like Republicans although
Democrats had enslaved them. Hispanics don't like Republicans,
despite the fact Karl Rove, who is a Republican, designed the
Hispanic strategy which replaced the Southern strategy which had
worked well for the GOP. (Seems like they can't stand success).
Even ex-felons and dead people don't like Republicans, they always
vote Democratic. O well, perhaps God will like the Republicans. At
least they didn't take Him out of their platform, unlike the
Democrats. Responding to critics they hastily put Him back but God
knows insincerity when He sees it.
