I don't remember what year it
was but it had to be around 1950 and it happened
during a basketball game in the old Ronceverte
armory between Alderson and Ronceverte. They,
Ronceverte had just scored and I took an inbound
pass and started up the floor when all at once
every one stood up and started pointing my way
and cheering. Thinking they finally recognized
my talents I kept going until the whistle
sounded to stop play. I turned around and
suddenly realized it wasn't my skill with a
basket ball but two women in a cussing, shirt
ripping, hair pulling fight that was going on
under the basket where we just left. My moment
of glory was short lived. I loved to play in
that old armory with all of the noise and
excitement it brought to me. |
