I was pleasantly surprised to see
Bobby Blacks comments about Max, my dad, and Virginia Deitz. He
worked for Dr. Smith sometime in the 1930's. My mom, also from
Alderson, told me he made a very good cherry coke. My mom and dad
moved to Charleston sometime in 1937 for my mom to attend nursing
school. My sister and I grew up here, but I remember going with my
dad, when I was grade school age, to see Dr. Smith at the store. Dr.
Smith gave my dad one of the triangle chairs that were used in the
pharmacy as a souvenir. My aunt Ginnny, died in January of this
year. She graduated from A.H.S. in 1942 and is in the picture for
the 1942 graduates on the front row. I attached a photo of my dad at
the time he lived in Alderson. Maybe some folks will remember seeing
him in the pharmacy. -
