Here are some photos
of the Alderson Oak. I took the first one the Saturday morning after
the derecho to show it still standing. It would be my guess that it was
weakened or cracked during that storm and the result happened about 5:30
a.m. this morning.
It was raining a bit
and somewhat dark when I took these photos so they are not as clear and
bright as I would have liked. However, note-red
arrow- the outraged squirrel on the knot on the tree (next to the
last picture). He seems to be saying, "Just what do you think you are
doing to my tree!" |
