William Leigh Michelinie, of Wilmington, DE, died
on Monday, May 14, 2012.
Bill was born on August 28, 1928 in Alderson, WV. He served with the
U.S. Army in Japan. Bill graduated from Virginia Tech in 1952 and
retired from DuPont after 34 years. He cofounded the Endowment Fund
at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian Church where he was a member for
nearly 50 years and served as an Elder, Deacon, Treasurer and
Trustee. He worked with the homeless and founded Partnerships in
Living, also working with the YWCA and Friendship House. Bill served
as a Trustee of Meeting Ground, a faith based community providing
housing for homeless persons, where he cofounded the Endowment
Committee.
Bill is survived by his wife of 62 years, Alice Miller Michelinie,
children, Kathryn Krajewski (James) of Hockessin, William Michelinie
II (Lenore) of Chestertown, MD, Rev. M. Kay Michelinie of Lima, NY,
and James Michelinie (fiancé Eileen) of Hockessin and three
grandchildren, Bradley Lewis and Shannon and Daniel Michelinie.
A Memorial service will be held at Red Clay Creek Presbyterian
Church, 500 McKennans Church Rd., Wilmington, DE 19808, on Thursday,
May 17, at 11 a.m.
