Howard Massingill, 68, of
Roanoke, Virginia died Monday, July 2, 2012. Howard was born on June
29,1944. He spent much of his childhood in Alderson and left at the
beginning of his junior year of high school. He was a graduate of
Stonewall Jackson High School in Charleston and a graduate of the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He had a long and
distinguished career in hospital administration and information
technology tied to hospitals.
He is survived by his wife Ann, brother Don and Diane Massingill of
PA, two daughters, Beth and Bob Newton, Courtney and Mike Clifford
of North Carolina, two stepsons, Kevin and Cindy Carter, Todd and
Juliana Carter of Northern Virginia and eight grandchildren.
Special thanks to extended family, friends, neighbors and staffs at
Lewis Gale Medical Center and UVA, for continuous love and support
during his journey.
Graveside services and burial will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 17,
2012 at the Restwood Memorial Gardens near Hinton. Friends may
gather from 10:00 A.M. until time of departure to the cemetery at
the Ronald Meadows Funeral Parlors in Hinton.
