Joyce Ann Sams Wickline, 73, of
White Sulphur Springs, WV formerly of Muddy Creek Mountain,
Alderson, W V, went to be with her Lord on Monday, July 16, 2012, at
the Greenbrier Valley Medical Center in Ronceverte, WV.
Joyce was born December 25, 1939,
at Gap Mills, WV, the daughter of the late Rev. Earl and Catherine
Massie Sams of Fort Spring, WV.
Joyce was a member of Alderson
High School Class of 1958. She was a charter member of the Alderson
Church of the Nazarene. She taught kindergarten class for 25 years,
served on the church board as secretary, steward, and was president
of the ‘Nazarene Mission Imitational Society" for 30 years, which
during this time, the society won many honors and awards. Joyce was
noted for the many skits she wrote for special occasions at church
and family functions. She was a member of the Muddy Creek Mountain
Ruritans and worked at Greenbrier Manor as a cook for several years.
Her wish was that all of her family
and friends know how much she loved them and cherished the
contribution they each made to her life.
She was preceded in death by her
parents; her husband of 34 years, Jack Wickline; her daughter,
Rebecca "Becky" Wickline; her sister and buddy, Viola Sue Perry; and
a sister-in-law, Jackie Sams.
Joyce is survived by a daughter,
Jacqueline Wickline and fiance, Denny Brown, of White Sulphur
Springs; three sons, James and wife, Paula, of White Sulphur
Springs, Charles Filius of California, and Josepha Campbell and
wife, Keri, of Morgantown, WV; mother-in-law and best friend,
Margaret Wickline of White Sulphur Springs; seven grand-children,
Amanda Wickline, Hanna and Jacob Wickline of White Sulphur Springs,
Stephen, Amy, and J.P. Campbell of Morgantown, WV, and Amanda
Bolyard and husband, Josh, of Morgantown; three
great-grand-daughters, Elizabeth and Emily Campbell and Vaeh Bolyard;
and a great-grandson, Cooper Bolyard of Morgantown.
She is also survived by two sisters, Lucille Hefner and husband,
Huck, of Huntington, WV, and Ruth Starr and husband, Richard, of
Charleston, WV; seven brothers, Earl Sonny" of Wildwood, GA., Barry
Sams and wife, Mary, of Warner Robins, GA, Orville Sams and wife,
Andra, and Roger Sams and wife, Beverly, of Alderson, Robert Sams
and wife, Dr. Debra Sams, Doug Sams and wife, Bernerta, of
Lewisburg, WV, and John Sams and wife, Susie, of Fort Spring; and
many nieces and nephews whom she loved and cherished.
Services are scheduled for
Friday, July 20, 2012, at l2 PM at the Longanacre Funeral Home
Chapel in Fairlea, WV with the Rev. Edward Midcap officiating.
Burial will follow in the Welch-Hanger Cemetery in Fort spring.
Viewing will be from 6-8 PM on
Thursday, July 19, at the funeral home. Joyce‘s nephews will serve
as pallbearers. Longanacre Funeral Home is in charge of
arrangements.
