ALDERSON —
Howard William Fields, age 91, of Alderson, W.Va., departed from
this world for his heavenly home on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at
The Brier Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Ronceverte, W.Va.,
following a long illness.
Born June 17, 1921, in Alderson, W.Va., he was the son of the late
William Edgar and Lillie Lee Taylor Fields. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by his devoted wife of 61 years,
Bethel Leah Kessinger Fields; two brothers, Lawrence Edgar Fields
and Lonnie Mason Fields; and three sisters, Mamie Lee Fields, Mabel
Ann Smith, and Ruth Fields Altare.
Mr.
Fields spent his life in Alderson, graduating from Alderson
High School in 1941 where he loved playing football under
the leadership of Coach Abe McLaughlin. In later years, he
owned and operated the Fields Stone Quarry on Muddy Creek
Mountain, Alderson, W.Va., for 40 years. He was a member of
the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson,
Alderson Masonic Lodge No. 70 AF & AM, and was a former
member of the Alderson Lions Club and the Odd Fellows. Mr.
Fields and his late wife, Beth, were avid square dancers.
Mr. Fields’ memory will be kept alive by a stepson, Barry E.
Worrell and his wife, Linda, of Chandler, Ariz.; two
sisters, Dolly Lee Graziani of Milton, Fla., and Rachel
Virginia Rookstool of Navarre, Fla.; three grandchildren;
many great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and
many friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at 2
p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, W.Va.,
with Pastor Nancy Bulla officiating. Burial will follow at
the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, W.Va. Friends may call
Wednesday, January 16, 2013, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the
Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, W.Va.
Serving as pallbearers and conducting Masonic Graveside
Rites will be the members of the Alderson Masonic Lodge No.
70 AF & AM, Alderson, W.Va.
