After a short illness, Harry S. Canterbury, 74, went to
be with his Lord on Friday July 25, 2014. He was born in
Alderson, West Virginia on August 4, 1939, and a
graduate of Alderson High School-1957. He joined the Navy
after graduation and served for 10 years around the
world. Settling in Virginia in 1969, he worked as a
Route Salesman for Johnson’s Foods and worked his
longest as a Route Supervisor.
Left to cherish his name is his wife of 48 years,
Serena, two sons, Mark and Steve; granddaughter,
Elizabeth; his mother, Frances Canterbury.
He was a long time member of New Testament Baptist
Church for 33 years. In keeping with his wishes he would
like to be cremated. A memorial service will be held 2
pm on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Oakey’s Vinton Chapel
with Rev. Jay Richards officiating. Visitation will be
from 7-8 pm Wednesday, July 30, 2014 at Oakey’s Vinton
Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the
building fund at New Testament Baptist Church. (source
