ALDERSON — Leona Grace Parker Fitzgerald, age 90, of Alderson,
W.Va., passed away on Friday, November 27, 2015, at Princeton
Community Hospital, Princeton, W.Va., following a short illness.
Born August 7, 1925, in Alderson, W.Va., she was the daughter of the
late E. Ray and Dorothy Lorene Lowery Parker. In addition to her
parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hunter
Fitzgerald; and a granddaughter, Beth Ann Thomas.
Mrs. Fitzgerald was a retired secretary, having retired from
Greenbrier Community College, Lewisburg, W.Va. She was a 1944
graduate of Alderson High School, Alderson, W.Va., and attended
Concord College and Greenbrier Community College, having received an
Associate Degree from Bluefield State College. She was a member of
the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson, W.Va., and
was a former member of the Alderson Music Club. Mrs. Fitzgerald
loved animals, especially cats and dogs, loved music and playing the
piano, enjoyed reading and enjoyed mowing grass.
Survivors include two daughters, Carole Thomas and her husband,
Frank, of Princeton, W.Va., and Sylvia Kessler and her husband, Joe,
of Hilldale, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Cynthia Thomas Jones of
Snake Run Road, Alderson, W.Va., Kimberly Kessler Parmer of
Charleston, W.Va., and Jerry Scott Kessler of Talcott, W.Va.; three
great-grandchildren, Patrick Parmer of Morgantown, W.Va., Abbey
Parmer of Charleston, W.Va., and Nicky Parmer of Charleston, W.Va.;
and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 2,
2015, with Jim Eskins officiating. Private burial will follow at
Greenbrier Memorial Gardens, Lewisburg, W.Va. Family and friends may
call Wednesday, December 2, 2015, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the
Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, W.Va.
