RUPERT — Samuel Henry Williams,
Jr., age 88, of Rupert, W.Va., formerly of Alderson, W.Va., passed
away on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at the University of Virginia
Medical Center, Charlottesville, Va., following a long battle with
Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born September 12, 1926, in Alderson, W.Va., he was the son of the
late Samuel Henry and Agnes Mae Loomis Williams. In addition to his
parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jack L. Williams;
and a sister, Audrey Frances Williams Thompson. Samuel was a 1945
graduate of Alderson High School.
Mr. Williams was a lineman/serviceman, having retired from
Appalachian Power Company, Rainelle, W.Va., retiring after 35 years
of service. He was a World War II veteran, having served our Country
in the United States Navy, and was a member of the Big Clear Creek
Baptist Church in Rupert, W.Va. Mr. Williams was an avid golfer who
loved golf, was a devoted husband, and a loving father and
grandfather.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Faye Williams of Rupert,
W.Va.; two sons, Samuel Henry Williams, III, of Huntington, W.Va.,
and Randal Terry Williams and his wife, Judy, of Louisa, Va.; a
brother, Harold Williams and his wife, Liz, of Sarasota, Fla.; a
sister, Lillian Williams Burns of Perrysburg, Ohio; a sister-in-law,
Toni L. Williams of Alderson, W.Va.; three grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Sunday, April 26, 2015, at 2 p.m. at the
Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, W.Va., with Pastor Glen Kuhn
officiating. Burial will follow at the Fletcher Addition of the
Alderson Cemetery, Alderson, W.Va., where military funeral honors
will be conducted. Friends may call Saturday, April 25, 2015, from 7
p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, W.Va.
Family members will serve as pallbearers.
