Mr. Highlander was a wind-up operator in film,
having retired from Hercules, Inc., in
Covington, Va., having retired after many years
of service. He was a 1956 graduate of Alderson
High School in Alderson, W.Va., where he was
very active in sports. Mr. Highlander served his
Country in the United States Army, and was a
member of the Johnson Memorial United Methodist
Church in Alderson, W.Va. He was an avid fan of
the WVU Mountaineer football and basketball
programs, and he loved to spend time with his
friends, visiting at the Alderson Big Wheel
Restaurant.
Survivors include his daughter, Angela Marie
Highlander and her fiancé, Bruce Battaile, of
Beckley, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Alison
Stewart of Alderson, W.Va., and Lauren Stewart
of Alderson, W.Va.; three brothers, Joe
Highlander of Hampton, Va., Leonard Highlander
of Roanoke, Va., and Coleman "Coco" Highlander
and his wife, Betty, of Alderson, W.Va.; two
sisters, Dona Copenhaver and her husband, Ray,
of Woodbridge, Va., and Leona Maynard of Newport
News, Va.; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 19,
2016, at 11:00 a.m. at the Lobban Funeral Home
Chapel, Alderson, W.Va., with Pastor David
Highlander officiating. Burial will follow at
the Fletcher Addition of the Alderson Cemetery,
Alderson, W.Va. Friends may call Monday, April
18, 2016, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the
Lobban Funeral Home, Alderson, W.Va.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
