Virginia McMillion
McCutcheon, age 81, of
Alderson, W.Va., passed
away on Monday, December
9, 2019 at Greenbrier
Valley Medical Center in
Fairlea, W.Va. following
a short illness.
Born
June 21, 1938 in
Ronceverte, W.Va., she
was the daughter of the
late Michael Bright and
Madeline Dillion
McMillion. In addition
to her parents, she was
preceded in death by her
son, Kenneth Louis
"Kenny" McCutcheon on
July 25, 2018.
Mrs.
McCutcheon was a
graduate of Greenbrier
High School in
Ronceverte, W.Va. and
attended college in
Missouri and later
became a loving
homemaker and mother.
She was a longtime
devoted member of the
Old Greenbrier Baptist
Church in Alderson where
she served as a
Deaconess, Greeter,
Sunday school teacher
and was a member of the
choir. |

She also served as
Sunday School Class Secretary,
served on the Hospitality Committee
and was the President of the Ruth
Thurmond Woman’s Mission Circle.
Mrs. McCutcheon was a member of the
Ladies Auxiliary of Tri County
Memorial VFW Post 6723 in Alderson
and was a volunteer of the Alderson
Public Library and the Alderson Food
Pantry for many years. She also
loved to walk and enjoyed reading.
Mrs. McCutcheon will be remembered
for being thoroughly devoted to the
spiritual and domestic welfare of
her community, but above all, she
loved her family, friends, and
neighbors.
Survivors include
her loving husband of 65 years,
Virgil Roy McCutcheon of Alderson,
whom she married on February 16,
1954; her daughter-in-law, Nancy
McCutcheon of Lee’s Summit, Mo.;
three grandchildren, Tiffany
Reynolds of Belton, Mo., Jay
McCutcheon of Columbia, Mo., and
Shea Harrel and her husband, Brett,
of Blue Springs, Mo.; five
great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob,
Remy, Brogan, and Evan; eight
brothers and sisters, Laura
Smothers, of Ronceverte, Mikel
"Mickey" McMillion of Clifton Forge,
Va., Edith Stamm and her husband,
Dave, of Albuquerque, N. M.,
Lawrence McMillion and his wife,
Shelba, of Mauk, Ga., Doris Young of
Pensacola, Fla., James McMillion of
Salem, Ala., Harold McMillion of
Sinks Grove, W.Va., and Grace
Flowers and her husband, Jim, of
Clinton, Md.; as well as 14 nieces
and nephews.
Funeral services
will be Saturday, December 14, 2019
at 1:00 p.m. at the Old Greenbrier
Baptist Church in Alderson with the
Rev. Dr. Richard Lohmeyer and Pastor
Derek Hall officiating. Burial will
follow at the Old Greenbrier
Memorial Cemetery in Alderson.
Friends may call on Saturday,
December 14, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to
1:00 p.m. at the Old Greenbrier
Baptist Church in Alderson.
