Donna
Gale Weakley Norton, 71,
of Alderson, WV, and
Jacksonville, FL, died
October 26, 2019 at
University Rehab Center
in Urbana, IL, after an
8-year battle with Lewey
Body Dementia.
Born August 24, 1948, in
Alderson, WV, she was
the daughter of the late
Margie & Edward Weakley.
Donna graduated from
Alderson High School in
1967. She spent most of
her adult life in
Jacksonville, FL. She
was a member of
Crossroads Baptist
Church. She retired from
Swisher International,
Inc.
She was preceded in
death by one brother,
Gerald M. Weakley (Big
Jerry).
Survivors include a
brother, Warren
Blaine Weakley
(wife, Sheila) of
Williamsburg, WV and
a sister, Wandaleen
Elane Jones
(husband, Bill) of
Savoy, IL. She has
six nieces and
nephews, Jerry
Weakley (Little
Jerry), Lori Carrel,
Matthew Jones, Seth
Weakley, Jeremiah
Weakley, and Hannah
Sanchez. She has
several great nieces
and nephews.
While Donna had no
children of her own,
she loved animals
and treated her
kitty cats like her
children. Her
siblings often
reminisced of the
baby chicks and
parakeets she had as
a child. Donna loved
to watch football
and her favorite
team was the
Jacksonville,
Jaguars. She had
many friends in her
church, which she
attended faithfully.
Donna LOVED her
t-shirts, at the
last count she only
had 70 (ha, ha),
most of which were
kitty cats, eagles,
Christian based and
the wild wonderful
West Virginia. Donna
was a Nintendo
Entertainment System
aficionado and could
play Super Mario
Brothers for hours
on end. Donna was a
natural born
comedian and even in
her last years at
the nursing home she
kept the staff and
residents in
stitches, making
funny noises, funny
faces, dancing and
high fiving
everyone.
Donna will be
cremated and her
remains will be
interred at Fletcher
Cemetery in
Alderson, WV.
Graveside services
will be held at a
later date to be
determined.
