at
the
Brier
Rehabilitation
and
Nursing
Center
in
Ronceverte,
WV.
Her
daughter,
Judy,
was
by
her
side,
and
family
members were with her throughout the day.
Born
January
20,
1920,
in
Alderson,
WV,
she
was
the
daughter
of
the
late
Marshall
E.
and
Grace
Lomax
Hoke
Pitzer.
In
addition
to
her
parents,
she
was
preceded
in
death
by
her
husband,
Robert
H.
Gwinn;
a
daughter,
Bobbie
Jean
Gwinn;
a
grandson,
John
David
Loughhead;
son-in-law,
David
C.
Loughhead;
one
brother, Harold H. Pitzer; and two sisters, Hazel I. Pitzer and Betty Pitzer Johnson.
Mrs.
Gwinn
was
a
graduate
of
Alderson
High
School,
class
of
1937.
She
retired
from
the
Federal
Bureau
of
Prisons'
Reformatory
for
Women
in
Alderson,
WV.
She
was
a
lifetime
member
of
the
Johnson
Memorial
United
Methodist
Church
in
Alderson,
where
she
served
the
ministry
in
many
capacities.
She
enjoyed
cooking
and
especially
loved
gardening
and
flowers.
Mrs.
Gwinn's
legacy
is
a
life
full
of
love
and
commitment,
love
for
her
family
and
friends
that
knew
no
end
and
a
commitment
to
her
faith
and
church
which was lifelong. "There are always flowers for those who want to see them".
Survivors
include
her
daughter,
Judith
G.
Loughhead
of
Buena
Vista,
VA;
two
grandsons,
Robert
P.
Loughhead
(Melissa)
of
Watertown,
NY,
and
Jason
G.
Loughhead
(Grace)
of
Lexington,
VA;
three
great-
grandsons,
John
Thomas
Loughhead,
Harrison
Loughhead,
and
William
Loughhead;
several
nieces
and
nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and many friends.
Funeral
services
will
be
Tuesday,
August
6,
2019,
at
2:00
p.m.
at
the
Johnson
Memorial
United
Methodist
Church
in
Alderson,
WV,
with
the
Rev.
Dr.
Jeffrey
Kanode
and
the
Rev.
Sam
Groves
officiating.
Private
family
burial
will
follow
at
the
Riverview
Cemetery,
Creamery,
WV.
Friends
may
call
on
Tuesday,
August
6,
2019, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Johnson Memorial United Methodist Church in Alderson, WV.
Serving
as
pallbearers
will
be

Jason
Loughhead, and John Thomas Loughhead.
The
family
would
