William J. Strealy
Jr., 75, of Davenport, FL, passed away on Thursday,
March 28, 2019 at Heart of Florida Regional Medical
Center. He was born on January 3, 1944 in Lewisburg,
WV to William J. and Hettie M. (Harnest) Strealy.
Jay was a 1961 graduate of Alderson High School.
William moved to Davenport in 1991 from Alderson,
WV. He was an auto mechanic and owned Jay's Exxon
Service Station, for 5 years and then S&S Ashland
Service Station, for 4 years. Later on, he started
driving trucks, where he retired from after 25
years.
William was an extremely generous man, who was very
protective of his family and had a good sense of
humor and loved to tell stories. In his younger
years, he was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed
hunting, fishing and playing golf. William enjoyed
watching all sports, but hockey was his favorite
sport. In fact, his favorite team was the Tampa Bay
Lightning. He also enjoyed word puzzles. |
He was preceded
in death by his parents and his
wife, of 53 years, Mary L.
Strealy. William is survived by
his children, Tim Strealy and
wife, Tina of Davenport, FL,
Bill Strealy and wife, Sally of
Groveland, FL; brothers, Abe
Strealy and wife, Mary of
Bedford, VA, Richard Strealy of
Orlando, FL and Ed Strealy and
wife, Carolyn of Lewisburg, WV;
grandchildren, Kylie, Clarissa,
Logan, Heather, Zach and
Gillian; great grandchildren,
Kenzie, Charlotte and Sadie. He
will be truly missed by all.
A visitation will be held on
Tuesday, April 2nd, 2019 from
12:00 p.m. until the service at
1:00 p.m. all at Oak Ridge
Funeral Care in Haines City, FL,
with Pastor Sam Groves,
officiating. Interment to follow
at Forest Hill Cemetery.
