Carroll “Keith” McCallister, passed
away at the age of 85 on July 8, 2021. Born in Asbury,
WV to Ernest and Madeline McCallister he was one for 12
children. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in
death by his twin sister Kayle Harvey of Livermore, CA,
sister Ellen Allen of Richmond, VA and brother Kenneth
McCallister of Redding, CA.
Keith graduated from Alderson High
School in 1954 and moved to Livermore California where
he started his career in plumbing. He was employed by
Tom Bailey Plumbing in Livermore and Bettencourt
Plumbing in Hayward and worked on many projects around
the bay area including the Lawrence Livermore Lab,
Sandia, Oakland Airport and Eden Hospital. He was a
member of the United Association of Journeymen and
Apprentices of Plumbing and Pipe Fitting Industry.
He retired in 1990 after 34 years
of service. He briefly came out of retirement and
worked at McIvor’s Hardware in Mission San Jose
where he enjoyed helping customers and sharing his
expertise.
Keith will be remembered for his
sense of humor, friendliness and generosity. He was
a selfless man and a caretaker at heart who enjoyed
taking care of his pets and farm animals. His most
favorite caretaker role of all was “Papa” to his
only granddaughter Annabella who he adored.
Keith is survived by his wife
Lona of 60 years, son Michael McCallister and
daughter Donna Piazza and her husband Joseph and
granddaughter Annabella Piazza. He is also survived
by his sister Patricia Moore and her husband Ken of
Glen Allen, VA, brothers Bob McCallister, Eddie
McCallister and Joe McCallister of Redding, CA,
Jimmie McCallister and his wife Shirley and Perry
McCallister of Livermore, CA, Sidney McCallister and
his wife Kay of Pahrump, NV, Garry McCallister and
his wife Frances of Alderson, WV, sister-in-laws,
Gloria Monares of Stockton and Susan Stewart of
Bozeman, MT and brother in law, Tom Stewart and his
wife Mona of Yorba Linda, CA.
Services will be held Friday,
July 16th at Callaghan Mortuary in Livermore and a
private burial on Monday, July 19th at St. Michael's
Cemetery
