age
90,
of
Alderson,
passed
away
on
Saturday,
June
15,
2024,
surrounded
by
his
family
at
the
Peyton
Hospice
House
in
Lewisburg.
He
was
born
June
14,
1934,
in
Glenray,
WV,
a
son
of
the
late
Vernie
Floyd
and
Harriet
(Shanklin) Phillips.
After
graduating
from
Alderson
High
School
in
1952,
Billy
honorably
served
his
country
in
the
United
States
Army.
He
proudly
worked
for
the
Federal
Bureau
of
Prisons
at
the
FPC
in
Alderson
as
a
unit
manager
where
he
retired
after
25
years
of
service.
Billy
will
be
remembered
for
his
love
of
the
WVU
Mountaineers,
playing
golf,
landscaping
his
yard,
listening
to
music,
watching
sports,
especially
the
NY
Yankees, but most of all, spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors.
Billy is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Elizabeth Ann (Hedrick) Phillips.
He
is
also
survived
by
his
son,
Joseph
Michael
Phillips
and
wife
Lynn,
of
Charlotte,
NC;
his
daughters,
Sandra
Phillips
Cook,
of
Lewisburg,
and
Julie
Ann
Muncy
and
her
husband
Jeff,
of
Eaton,
OH;
his
special
niece
who
is
considered
his
daughter
at
heart,
Elizabeth
“Libby”
Harvey
and
her
husband
John,
of
Alderson;
his
grandchildren,
Lauren
Muncy
Johnston
and
her
husband
Walker,
of
Friendsville,
MD,
Jenna
Muncy,
of
West
Alexandria,
OH,
Hannah
Cook,
of
Charlotte,
NC,
Matthew
Cook,
of
Pensacola,
FL;
his
great-
granddaughter,
Emma
Blake
Johnston,
of
Friendsville,
MD;
his
sisters,
Peggy
Ballengee,
of
Alderson,
and
Cookie Brown, of Caldwell, and many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In
addition
to
his
parents,
he
was
preceded
in
death
by
his
brothers,
Clarence
Calvin
Phillips,
Robert
Lee
Phillips, Vernie Eugene Phillips; his sisters, Doris Jewell Arbaugh, and his twin sister Betty June Walthall.
Funeral
services
will
be
Wednesday,
June
18
at
1:00
p.m.
at
the
Lobban
Funeral
Home
Chapel
in
Alderson,
with
Pastor
Ed
Midcap
officiating.
Burial
will
follow
at
the
Alderson
Cemetery
in
Alderson,
with
military
funeral
honors
graveside
rights
provided
by
West
Virginia
Army
National
Guard
from
Camp
Dawson.

at
