Cooper,
age
84,
of
Alderson
passed
away
unexpectedly
on
Thursday,
May
30,
2024,
at
his
residence
in
Alderson.
He
was
born
February
9,
1940,
in
Lawn,
West
Virginia,
a
son
of
the
late
Charles
Raymond
and
Ethel
Irene
(Martin) Cooper.
Mr.
Cooper
was
a
former
employee
of
Bluefield
State
University
and
Fincastle
Country
Club
where
he
worked
as
a
kitchen
and
dining
room
attendant.
Although
Howard
was
visually
impaired,
he
proudly
retired
after
34
years
of
service.
He
will
be
remembered
for
his
love
of
gardening,
working
in
his
flower
beds,
watching
the
news
every
day,
taking
care
of
his
house,
and
traveling
out
west
if
the
opportunity
arose.
Howard
was
a
devout
member
of
the
Griffith
Creek
Baptist
Church
where
he
faithfully
attended
Sunday
School
for
over
17
consecutive years with a perfect attendance.
Those
left
to
cherish
his
memory
include
his
sisters,
Grace
Marie
Parker
of
Alderson,
and
Dorothy
Mae
Cooper of Griffith Creek; as well as several loving nieces and nephews.
In
addition
to
his
parents,
he
was
preceded
in
death
by
his
brothers
Herbert
Cooper
and
Harold
Cooper,
his sister Mary Pauline Bennett; and nephew Mikel Cooper.
Funeral
services
will
be
Monday,
June
3,
2024,
at
5:00
p.m.
at
the
Lobban
Funeral
Home
Chapel
in
Alderson,
with
Pastor
Audie
Sorg
officiating.
Burial
will
follow
at
the
Maude
Chapel
Cemetery
in
Dawson,
W.Va.
Friends
may
call
Monday,
June
3,
2024,
from
4:00
p.m.
to
5:00
p.m.
at
the
Lobban
Funeral
Home
in
Alderson, W.Va.
Family will serve as pallbearers.
The
Family
