Luther
A.
Lewallen,
Jr.,
82,
of
Uniontown,
Pennsylvania
died
peacefully
at

following
a
battle
with
dementia
on
May
31,
2024.
Born
on
May
5,
1942,
at
Louellen,
Kentucky,
Luther
was
the
son
of
the
late
Luther
A.
Lewallen, Sr. and Hazel Woodward Lewallen.
Luther
graduated
from
West
Virginia
University
as
a
teacher
after
graduating
from
Mount
Hope
High
School.
Luther
very
much
believed
in
the
individualism
that
the
“old
junior
high
and
local
high
schools”
gave
communities.
He
loved
teaching
until
his
retirement.
There
was
not
a
child
that
Luther
didn’t
encourage
and
give
the
most
respect
and
his
undivided
attention
to.
As
an
educator,
he
touched
many
lives.
He
spent
his
summers
painting schools throughout the county.
Once
he
and
Judy
met
and
got
married,
she
kept
him
busy
with
the
bed
and
breakfast
and
with
other
jobs.
They
have
painted
dozens
of
houses
and
started
many
businesses
together.
While
he
didn’t
have
any
children
of
his
own,
he
adopted
his
grandson,
Chris.
Luther
took
great
strides
to
make
sure
Chris
was
taken care of and had every opportunity he could to succeed.
After
selling
the
bed
and
breakfast
in
Fayette
County,
they
moved
to
Alderson.
Luther
became
mayor
and
served 4 terms. During that time, he took the job to heart and did his best to make Alderson better.
In
addition
to
his
parents,
Luther
was
preceded
in
death
by
his
brothers
Lynn,
Donald,
Jerry
and
sisters
Betty and Vada.
Those
left
to
cherish
Luther’s
memories
are
his
wife
of
forty
years,
Judy,
sons
Chris
Lewallen
and
Eric
Laxton,
daughters
Lisa
Davis,
Rhonda
Laxton,
and
Travis
Copenhaver,
his
family
and
many
other
friends
and relatives.
In
keeping
with
his
wishes
Luther
was
cremated.
A
celebration
of
his
life
will
be
held
at
Alderson
City
Hall,
311 Monroe Street, South, Alderson, West Virginia 24910 on Saturday June, 8th, 2024 at 1:00pm.
