Ronceverte-Veva Adele Fawcett, 90, formerly of Alderson,
passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2011, at Greenbrier
Valley Medical Center, Fairlea, following a short
illness.
Born
Oct. 19, 1920, at Sinks Grove, she was the daughter of
the late DeWhitt Clinton and Viola Riffe Cook.
In addition to
her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters,
Marie Hylton, Elline Crosier, Lottie Keatley and Polly
Via.

Ms. Fawcett was a retired correctional officer, having retired from
the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Alderson, after 20 plus years of
service. Prior to her employment with the Federal Bureau of Prisons,
she worked as a beautician at Beth’s Beauty Shop, Alderson. She was
a 1939 graduate of Alderson High School and graduated from
Charleston Barber and Beauty School in 1941. Ms. Fawcett was a
member of the Old Greenbrier Baptist Church, Alderson, and attended
the First Baptist Church of Fairlea. She was a former member of the
Retired Federal Employees. Ms. Fawcett loved to shop and to spend
time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she dearly
loved.
Survivors include: two sons, James C. Jones and wife Bobbie of
Annandale, VA and Alex H. Feamster and wife Christine, of Caldwell;
five grandchildren, Chad Feamster of Lewisburg, James C. Jones, II
of Bowling Green, KY, Kristina Jones Goode and husband Chris of
Oviedo, FL, Samuel Allen Jones and wife Mary of Mechanicsville, VA
and Michael Shane Jones and wife Dawn of Annandale, VA; 10
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 27, at 2 p.m. at the
Lobban Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Kevin Prevett
officiating.
Burial followed at the Alderson Cemetery, Alderson.
Family and friends served as pallbearers.
