CULLODEN — Onva Lee
Wenger Pierce, 68, of Culloden, went home to be with the Lord on
Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at her home in Culloden following a long
illness.
Born July 5, 1939, at Alderson, she was the daughter of the late
Lynn Clark and Ethel Morgan Wenger. In addition to her parents, she
was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin C. Wenger.
Mrs. Wenger was a homemaker. She was a 1956 graduate of Alderson
High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lyons, Ga.
She attended Grace Fellowship Baptist Church, which is the former
Evangelical Free Church at Culloden, where she taught Sunday school
and AWANAS for several years. Mrs. Pierce worked for the Literacy
Volunteers of Putnam County.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Robert Forest Pierce;
three sons, Robert Forest Pierce Jr. and his wife, Gail, of Lyons,
Ga., Christopher Lynn Pierce and his wife, Robin, of Culloden and
Mark Ellis Pierce of Culloden; a daughter, Leana Pierce Hoover and
her husband, David, of Milton; a brother, Bobby Wenger and his wife,
Lisa, of Hawkins, Texas; three sisters, Joyce Noble and her husband,
Fred, of Alderson, Lena Wenger of Beckley and Rymal Kenton and her
husband, Herb, of Milford, Del.; four grandchildren, Katelyn Pierce
of Lyons, Preston Hoover and Hayden Hoover, both of Milton, and
Forest Caputo of Jane Lew; four stepgrandchildren, Leslie McLendon
and her husband, Donald, of Lyons, Zade Bailey and his wife, Mary
Ann, of Lyons, Avery Silas of Charleston and Natasha Dawson of
Charleston; three stepgreat-grandchildren, Dawson and Abby McLendon
and Alisa Bailey, all of Lyons; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday, April 13, at Lobban
Funeral Home Chapel, Alderson, with Pastor Kenny Taylor and Pastor
Gerald Foster officiating. Burial will follow in the Fletcher
Addition of the Alderson Cemetery.
Friends may call 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
