Banner For Strawberry Festival Ready At   the   regular   Council   meeting   of   the   Town   of   Alderson   on   Thursday,   May   11,   a   new   banner   for   the   upcoming Strawberrry Festival was presented to the town. The   Strawberry   Festival   in   2016   was   a   huge   success   and   the   second   one   to   be   held   on   Saturday,   May   27, promises   to   be   bigger   and   better.   To   help   with   the   advertising,   the   Strawberry   Festival   Committee   provided materials   to   the   Federal   Prison   Camp   and   one   of   their   inmates   drew   this   beautiful   banner   under   the   direction   of Lisa Vandall and with the support of Warden Wilson. Mystik   Miller   is   the   director   of   the   festival   which   is   supported   by Alderson   Main   Street   and   the Town   of Alderson. It   will   be   held   on   Saturday,   May   27   from   10-3   throughout   the   town.   It   will   start   at   7:00   a.m.   with   a   pancake breakfast   at   the   Alderson   Volunteer   Fire   Department   and   include   live   music,   food,   and   a   dessert   contest.   Most activities   begin   at   10:00   a.m.   There   will   be   yard   sales   throughout   the   town   and   flea   market.   Kids   can   participate in a crazy straw contest, run through a hay maze, and walk a set course. Mayor    Travis    Copenhaver    said,    “We    are    excited    that    the    Strawberry    Festival    is    back    this    year!    So    many organizations   participated   last   year   and   raised   funds   for   their   good   work   and   we   hope   for   even   more   this   year.
