FEDERAL PRISON CAMP SPONSORS CHILDREN AT CHRISTMAS On   Wednesday,   December   6,   2017,   the   Federal   Prison   Camp   (FPC)   in Alderson,   West   Virginia,   hosted   its annual   Community   Children’s   Christmas   party.   This   is   only   one   example   of   the   excellent   community support   provided   by   the   FPC. Almost   any   local   emergency   will   find   staff   and   inmates   from   the   FPC   working beside   community   volunteers   to   take   corrective   action.   Warden   Wilson   and   the   staff   are   a   terrific   resource for the Alderson community. This   party   was   held   at   the   Alderson   Community   Center   from   10:00   a.m.-12:00   noon   for   children   from   the surrounding   area.   Throughout   the   year,   inmates   participating   in   the   Yarn   Project   donate   knitted   and crocheted   items   such   as   scarves,   mittens,   hats,   etc.,   as   gifts   for   the   children.   Additionally,   institution employees   voluntarily   sponsor   an   “Angel”   and   purchase   gifts   for   each   child   who   attends. A   tree   was   placed in   the   hallway   of   the   Administration   Building   of   the   FPC   with   the   children’s   names   which   staff   “adopted” and then purchased gifts. Four   students   (ages   12   and   under)   from   eight   local   schools   were   invited   to   attend   including   Alderson Elementary,   Ronceverte   Elementary,   Hinton   Area,   Talcott   Elementary,   Jumping   Branch   Elementary,   White Sulphur   Springs   Elementary,   Smoot   Elementary,   and   Mountain   View   Elementary.   The   schools   provided transportation    to    and    from    the   Alderson    Community    Center.    Lunch    was    provided    by    FPC   Alderson employees. The   event   was   coordinated   by Tina   Wickline,   Warden’s   Secretary,   and   co-coordinated   by   Phyllis   Sea,   Drug Treatment   Specialist.   Justin   Hedrick,   Warehouse   Worker   Foreman,   was   Santa   Claus   and   Natalie   Wright, Medical   Officer,   was   Mrs.   Claus   for   the   event.   Santa’s   helper   was   the   daughter   of   Amy   Crawford,   Human Resource   Specialist.   Bobby   and   Judy   Hoover,   managers   of   the   Community   Center,   also   helped   with   the event. Mayor   Travis   Copenhaver   said,   “This   party   for   children   from   our   area   is   much   appreciated   by   the   children, their parents, and their teachers. We applaud the generosity of the FPC staff and inmates.” PHOTO   CAPTION:   Co-coordinators   of   the   Children’s   Party   sponsored   by   the   Federal   Prison   Camp   Tina Wickline,   Warden’s   Secretary,   and   Phyllis   Sea,   Drug   Treatment   Specialist   take,   a   moment   to   relax   with Justin   Hedrick,   Warehouse   Worker   Foreman   who   was   especially   deputized   by   Santa   Claus   to   fill   in   for him.
