NEWS RELEASE - June 9, 2018
Safe Routes To School Grants
Alderson’s
success
of
the
Safe
Routes
to
School
grants
has
been
dependent
on
the
hard
work
of
Mrs.
Lynda Neff. Mrs. Neff doesn’t like publicity, but for these grants she has been the driving force.
It
should
be
noted
that
we
have
been
awarded
the
last
possible
funding
at
100%
as
these
grants
were
when
she
first
started
working
on
them.
They
now
require
an
80/20
match.
We
are
the
only
municipality
in
the state to have been awarded 6 grants in a row through the program.
Mrs.
Neff’s
love
of
Alderson
has
netted
us
over
$600,000.00
to
make
our
routes
to
school
safer.
She
has
not
been
compensated
anything
and
is
an
“administrative
volunteer.”
A
true
and
devout
Aldersonian.
Thank
you
Lynda
for
your
dedication
to
not
only
Alderson,
but
our
children,
and
this
and
previous
administrations.
Your
efforts
will
leave
a
positive
footprint
well
into
the
next
decade
plus.
Many
should
follow
your
lead
for
lending a hand to help out instead of criticizing and spreading negativity.
Thank you!
Travis
Thanks
to
the
hard
work
of
our
mayor,
Travis
Copenhaver,
and
the
town
of
Alderson
in
getting
grants
to
fix
our
sidewalks.
Walking
school
bus
has
been
a
huge
success.
These
grants
have
not
only
fixed
our
sidewalks,
they
have
also
allowed
the
town
to
provided
sweatshirts,
tee
shirts,
umbrellas
and
end
of
the
year
prizes
for
our
Alderson
youth.
The
picture
below
is
the
group
of
children
that
participated
in
walking
school bus this year. Thank you for all your hard work and caring for the youth of this town!
