URGENT!  URGENT!  URGENT! The   National   Guard   will   be   in   the   Town   of Alderson   and   the   immediately   surrounding   area   to   pick   up   flood damaged   items   and   debris   on   Wednesday,   June   24.      All   Alderson   citizens   and   those   in   the   surrounding area   who   suffered   damage   from   the   flash   flooding   on   Friday,   June   19   can   put   out   items   to   be   taken   away by the Guard.  Items must be at the curb by the end of the day on Tuesday. Mayor    Travis    Copenhaver    said,    “We    know    that    this    flooding    had    a    different    damage    pattern    than previously   when   flooding   came   from   the   Greenbrier   River.      This   means   that   people   who   are   not   even close   to   the   river   had   water   in   their   basements   and   other   damage.      We   especially   want   those   people   to know about this damaged item and debris removal by the Guard.” Mayor   Copenhaver   has   worked   closely   with   both   the   Greenbrier   County   and   Monroe   County   Offices   of Homeland   Security   and   Emergency   Management   to   expand   this   debris   removal   service   to   areas   just outside   of   town   which   were   impacted   by   the   flooding.      Areas   such   as   Palestine   and   Dark   Hollow   are certainly included as well as others who may not have a name.  Anyone   who   lives   in   an   area   which   is   not   typically   flooded,   can   call   City   Hall   (304-445-2916)   with   their name   and   physical   address.     A   list   will   be   kept   and   it   will   be   given   to   the   National   Guard   when   they   arrive on Wednesday. As   far   as   is   known   now,   this   will   be   the   only   debris   pick   up   by   the   National   Guard.      It   is   important   that everyone   knows   about   it   and   gets   their   debris   and   damaged   items   to   the   curb   by   the   end   of   the   day   on Tuesday.
