Handicap Accessibility For Amtrak Customers Last   October Amtrak   was   in   the   process   of   building   accessibility   to   a   new   customer   loading   platform.   Click on first photo for larger view. The   second   photo   is   the   finished   product.   Note   the   new   side   walk   for   those   coming   from   east   of   the platform.   The   small   brown   building   house   the   wheelchair   lift   to   the   platform.   There   is   a   paved   walk   way from the depot to the platform. Click photo for larger view. The   fact   that Amtrak   built   this   platform   would   indicate   that   rail   traffic   in Alderson   had   increased.   Hopefully that’s a positive sign.

Note the dirt road that went around the back of the median with the three trees, now has two walkways. One that goes around the median, and another from the wheel chair elevator to the depot. No more a parking place.
