So What Do You Do On Your Saturday? January 31, 2021

On    their    day    off,    our    dedicated    street    department    was    readying    for    the    storm.    We    have    replaced antiquated    vehicles    and    equipment,    put    new    trucks    in    service    with    plows,    and    our    staff    does    an outstanding job keeping it running and ready. The   next   item   I   want   to   share   is   one   that   really   makes   me   proud.   With   the   threat   of   major   storm   and possible   power   outage,   this   is   the   first   potential   to   fire   up   the   brand   new   fixed   generator   at   the   water   plant should the need arise. It’s   taken   since   2012   to   make   it   a   reality,   but   it   is   now.   I   am   pleased   to   say   we   are   100%   back   up   power   for all   infrastructure.   In   the   case   of   the   lift   stations,   there   is   a   back   up   35,000kw   rolling   power   house   in   case the first generator fails. This   is   major   planning   and   grant   writing   coming   together   over   years   to   make   reality.   The   generator   at   the water plant was in service last week. So,   this   evening,   as   the   storm   moves   in,   thanks   to   the   entire   dedicated   team   of   public   servants   for   your hard   work   to   be   storm   ready.   From   the   crews   readying   plows,   fire   trucks   being   chained,   fuel   topped   off,   to the officers watching the weather.
