ONE NIGHT FOR SOME REASON THAT ESCAPES ME I DECIDED TO HITCHHIKED TO LEWISBURG BEFORE I COULD THE SNACK SHACK CHARLIE AND HIS BROTHER GENE SAID WE WOULD ALL GO THAT WAY. I JUMPED INTO THE BACK SEAT ,CHARLIE AND JEAN WERE BOTH A FEW YEARS OLDER THEN ME. AS WE DROVE UP THE ROAD BOTH MY FRIENDS KEPT DRINKING RAW VODKA FROM A BOTTLE .THEY WERE GETTING DRUNK AND OFFERED ME A DRINK .I NEVER DRANK AROUND ALDERSON ,BECAUSE I KNEW EVEN SOBER ,YOU COULD HAVE A SAVAGE BRUTAL EVEN DEADLY FIGHT REAL QUICK AND YOU ALWAYS NEEDED YOUR FULL WITS . ANYWAY AS WE RODE TOWARD LEWISBURG THE FIST BEGAN TO STRIKE HARD .FROM THE BACK SEAT I YELLED STOP THE CAR CHARLIE. CHARLIE STOPPED THE CAR RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FAIRLEA ROAD . WE ALL ROLLED OUT OF THE CAR AND I TRIED TO GET BETWEEN MY FRIENDS .SUDDENLY ,A BIG FLASHING RED LIGHT CAME UP BEHIND THE CAR .A BIG, VERY BIG STATE TROOPER LEAPED OUT OF HIS CAR .IN VERY POWERFUL VOICE HE TOLD US TO GET AGAINST THE CAR FACE FORWARD .ALL THREE OF US IMMEDIATELY COMPLIED. HE WAS GOING TO PUT THE CUFFS ON ALL OF US ,BUT I TOLD HIM SIR I AM NOT DRINKING , CANNOT DRIVE AND I AM TRYING TO KEEP THE FIGHT FROM ESCALATING. HE LOOKED ME OVER AND TOLD ME TO GET MYSELF UP TO LEWISBURG STATE PATROL HEAD QUARTERS AT 7 IN THE MORNING TO GET CHARLIE AND GENE OUT OF JAIL '. I TOLD THE OFFICER I DID NOT HAVE A CAR ,HE SAID SON YOU JUST BETTER BE THERE. THE NEXT MORNING I GOT UP AT 4 WENT DOWN CAUGHT A RIDE TO LEWISBURG .AS SOON AS I GOT TO POLICE STATION THEY LET MY FRIENDS OUT. WE WERE ALL VERY HAPPY ,THE THREE OF US RETURNED TO ALDERSON ,AND I AM SURE WE ALL HAD A VERY VERY NICE DAY. |
