Antique Cars, Music, History in Alderson
Do you like Antique Cars? The Memorial Bridge in Alderson will be full of them Saturday, September 20, Noon - 6pm.
How about old Fire Equipment and tools? Music and Food? All of that is a part of Alderson's Diamond Anniversary
Bridge Celebration.
Start at the Alderson Visitor Center parking lot for the Community Market at 8:30am. Produce, Amish baked goods,
crafts and more. In the Visitor Center is an exhibit of the History of the Memorial Bridge. Kids activities are outside
under the trees.
At noon is the ribbon cutting on the Bridge. An display of Antique Cars from 1919-1980 will span the bridge. At 1pm
music will start at the Gazebo in Alumni Park next to the Greenbrier River. On Railroad Avenue is historic Fire
Equipment thanks to the Alderson Fire Department. There will be old farm tractors as well.
Then on to the Train Depot. Inside there are exhibits of the depot but in the Baggage room is a special display of
items such as typewriters, telephones, toys and more showing 100 Years of Change. Alderson's Store will show
Fashions from 1914-Present in the big windows as well as items inside. People walking around town will be wearing
clothing from different decades, you can too. The old Bank building will have photos of Alderson through time in the
windows.
Did we mention food? Pit Masters Billy & Dawn Painter will be on hand with Burnout Pit BBQ and free Birthday Cake
will be served at 5pm near the Gazebo.
Rain or Shine come to Alderson Saturday and experience someplace different.
