Improving The Community One Project At A Time” PO Box 117 -  Alderson W Va.  24910 © Alderson Main Street 2014 I REMEMBER WHEN…  Memories can be lost if not recorded.  Eric Duff, of Alderson, was thinking of that when he suggested that memories people in Alderson have of the Alderson Memorial Bridge and of Alderson in general be collected as a part of the  Diamond Anniversary Celebration of bridge.  Duff said, “I was talking to someone about the janitor for the schools  who had a house under a large tree near the Elementary School. The house is no longer there and the janitor is  gone and no one remembers.” In order to collect memories, Alderson Main Street will be placing notebooks at City Hall, the Greenbrier River  Interpretive and Visitors Center, and the historic 1896 C&O Depot.  Please stop in when these places are open or  during the Diamond Anniversary Celebration and write memories in the books.  Typed or handwritten memories can also be brought in for placement in the books. Mayor Travis Copenhaver said, “This is a great idea!  I cannot wait to read some of the memories.”  Following the Diamond Anniversary Celebration from 12 noon to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 20, 2014, these memories will be preserved for the next great celebration.
