Were you ever tempted as a youngster to remove one of the  street signs from your street in Alderson and mount it on the wall of your room? Well  if you did remove one don’t tell me, but if you did not and think that it would be “cool”  “fun” or just crazy to have your own  street sign as a memory of your youth NOW IS  YOUR CHANCE.      Main Street is selling the street signs that are being removed to make way for new  signs. All of the proceeds of this sale will go to the Town for general improvements.  Main Street has agreed to be the town’s agent for these signs. If you would like to place an order for one of the signs that is being removed the cost  is $50 per sign. The entire proceeds will go to the town for its general improvement.  The process is as follows:  1.  Please review the list of streets (list is below) and pick the sign that you would like.  2. E-mail Tom Dameron andy6424@aol.com to let me know what you would like. Please include your address, telephone number, and email address.  3. When the signs are removed (in about 60 days) we will inspect them for damage etc. If your choice is not materially damaged we will notify you. In the event your preferred sign is damaged we will also notify you that we are unable to provide it to you.  4. Once we notify your that your sign is available you should forward $50 to Alderson Main Street, P.O.  Box 117 Alderson WV 24910  5. We will send your sign to you via US Postal Service. In the event that you are not satisfied for any reason then you may return the sign and we will refund your $50. In order to get a refund you should let us know within 15 days of receipt, otherwise we shall have forwarded the funds to the town and will be unable to return your funds.  6. The signs are on a first come first served basis.  We would like you to know that we are still selling MEMORIAL BRICKS for the Alumni Park sidewalk for $50 (this  is the last order that we will be in a position to sell the brick for $50. The new price beginning in September, 2014 is  $75).  The manufacturer originally told us July was the cut-off; however we have extended it until September.  Each brick consists of a maximum of 3 lines with 18 characters per line. If you would like help in the wording for the  brick we will be glad to help.  We have almost completed the entire sidewalk at the Park. Many of the bricks were  ordered by a graduate with the class year. Other bricks are there in memory of a family/loved one. Many are in  place by families in Alderson.
