The 1950’s Fabulous Foursome!
This
is
a
fan
site
of
the
original
Diamonds
of
the
1950s.
All
hailing
from
Canada,
they
made
their
way
to
the
U.
S.,
and
with
their
songs
and
energy,
endeared
themselves
to
their fans forever.
Another
compilation
on
Mercury-Wing.
This
one
has
some
real
gems
including,
"Moonglow"
and
"
Land
of
Beauty",
to
mention
a
couple.
It
also spans two of their personnel changes.
Personnel: Lead-David Somerville. Tenor-Ted Kowalski/Evan Fisher.

Album Notes
Since
crossing
the
border
in
1955,
this
Canadian
oriented
foursome
of
teenage
favorites
has
cracked
the
hard-to-hit
"Top
40"
chart
of
the
nation's
radio
stations
regularly.
Since
their
first
best
seller
"Why
Do
Fools
Fall
In
Love",
they've
rolled
up
such
all
timers
as
Little
Darlin;
Kathy-O;
She
Say;
High
Sign;
Church
Bells
May
Ring;
The
Stroll;
Silhouettes
and
Words
Of
Love.
And
their
particular
enthusiasm
and
style has remained just as hot in 1959 as it was in their break-in-year.
Look back to 1955. How many of today's top-seller remain at a peak like the Diamonds? Very few.
But
then
very
few
continue
to
elicit
“swoons”
and
“oohs”
and
“ahs”
from
not
only
drooling
feminine
young
music
lovers,
but
the
pleased
and entertained and looks from young male counterparts.
In
every
band
of
this
Wing
album,
you’ll
find
the
categories
that’s
synonymous
with
the
Diamonds.
And
it’s
appealing
beyond
the
teen
age
years.
If
you’re
in
the
mood
for
nostalgia,
try
going
back
over
20
years
of
music
with
such
standards
as
“Moonglow”
and
“I’ll
Always
Be
In
Love
With
You.”
They
carry
the
same
zest
and
sing
as
do
such
danceable,
listenable
favorites
of
today
--
Little
Girl
of
Mine
and
“Sweet
Wind Honey”.
