Mission Statement (What we do) The mission of Alderson Main Street is to further the economic development of the Town of Alderson by improving the appearance of the town; fostering tourism; and marketing the town and its businesses. Potentials: The mission of Alderson Main Street is to support Town initiatives by encouraging economic development; fostering tourism; marketing the town, its history and its features; and collaborating with individuals and groups to provide family friendly activities. Mary: the original doesn’t mention community, quality of life for Alderson community, through the list of things like economic development, family activities, etc. Quality of life for Alderson Community, Focus on Community, maybe we’d have more involvement in AMS Doris: I like “Enhance quality of life” Discussion about town growth - most are for growth, within reason. Would love to see vacant stores filled Doris spoke on town Initiative and 10 year comprehensive plan. We as AMS want to support town initiatives. Clean streets, neat homes/maintained, etc. Town of Alderson and surrounding area, since we do include more than just the boundaries of the town Margaret: Alderson Main Streets vision is a town that’s friendly and welcoming to outside visitors, a supportive climate for small businesses Warm welcoming community who enjoy a high quality of life and who engage in unique festivals and attractions. Barbara: Family focused, traditional values, etc. Mary: Residents of all ages, community activity Warm welcoming community, Safe, clean, attractive, welcoming, engaged people, events for all ages, Alderson area, unique events and attractions, the river, outdoor recreation, physically active, healthy, etc. Goals and Objectives (and how to achieve them) (from the 2015 goals and objectives) Preserve and Maintain the architectural, cultural and historical integrity of keystone properties in Alderson. Objectives: 1) Maintain the depot 2) Maintain Greenbrier river interpretive center 3) Maintain Hotel Park 4) Maintain Alumni Park 5) Identify priority areas for improvement Notes: Heritage Goal 2: Support local businesses and entrepreneurs Objectives: 1) Engage businesses in special events, cross promotion 2) Invite business members to have active presence on board 3) Organize and implement “Buy Alderson” campaign a.
