Alderson Main Street has scheduled their Third Annual Fall Festival on the Bridge for October 5, from 10- 3. Most vendors will be located on the Alderson Memorial Bridge as visitors stroll through their wares from the Greenbrier County side to the Monroe County side and vice versa. The Historic 1896 C&O Depot and Museum will also be open and will host Open Mic at the Depot night on that Saturday from 6-9 pm. The exciting activities include several free children’s activities such as making ears of corn from beads offered by Old Greenbrier Baptist Church; hitting a pumpkin pinata for its delicious contents; face painting; and much more. The pet parade at 11:45 will be from the Fruits of Labor Café to the Gazebo where the pets and their costumes will be judged. Lamp post decorating has become one of Alderson’s favorite activities as people and businesses compete to see who can create the best seasonal decoration. There will be food options including the Community Market which will be selling chili, hot dogs and more to support their seasonal activities. Local restaurants will be open and vendors will have specialty foods. Alderson shops, including the Alderson Artisans Gallery, will be decorated for fall and have beautiful goods for sale. Music will be woven throughout the day from musicians located in the Gazebo thanks to a grant from the Greenbrier County Commission. The festival would not be possible without the cooperation and support of the Town of Alderson and the Alderson Police Department. AMS President Don Sutherland said, “There are a lot of festivals this time of year but no one offers a prettier venue than Alderson. Please join us on October 5 and see for yourself.” PHOTO CREDITS: 331—Vendors and shoppers on the Alderson Memorial Bridge during the 2023 Fall Festival on the Bridge. 349—One of the great decorated lamp posts in Alderson in 2023.
