(Denny)
was
born
in
Greenbrier
County,
West
Virginia
to
George
Russell
(Russ)
Quillen
and
Olga
Glee
Haynes
Quillen
on
December
27,
1940.
Denny
was
a
graduate
of
Alderson
High
School,
class
of
1958.
He
attended
Auto
Body
Trade
School
in
Nashville,
TN
following
graduation.
He
married
and
lived
in
the
Washington
D.C.
area
before
settling
back
in
Alderson
where
he
and
his
first
wife
had
three
children
and
he
operated
Valley
Body
Shop.
He
moved
his
family
to
Winter
Park,
Florida
in
1979
and
established
Denny’s
Auto
Body
in
1985.
He
and
Shelva
Sampson married in August 1988.
Denny
had
a
long
successful
career
as
an
auto
body
repairman
by
profession,
but
also
as
a
homestead
farmer
raising
chickens,
goats,
and
turkeys,
and
working
a
large
garden.
He
retired
in
2008
and
moved
to
Beverly
Hills,
FL
in
2017
where
he
continued
to
do
backyard
gardening
as
a
hobby.
He
was
a
member
of
First
Christian
Church
of
Inverness
and
was
an
active
32nd
degree
Masonic
Mason
of
the
Orlando
Chapter.
He
will
be
remembered
for
his
outgoing
personality
and
always
going
out
of
his
way
to
help
his
family,
friends, and neighbors.
Denny
is
preceded
in
death
by
his
parents
Russ
and
Glee.
He
is
survived
by
his
wife
of
34
years,
Shelva
Quillen;
by
his
children
Connie
Baxter
(Russ),
Reka
Schaub
(Ray),
Janene
Kirkland
(Jerry),
Julie
Monnin
(Jarrod),
Michael
Quillen
(Lisa);
by
his
grandchildren
Mark
Schaub,
Carolanne
Bowley
(Kyle),
Steven
Schaub
(Lorna),
Shannon
Schaub,
Emily
Baxter,
Sarah
Pierce
(Matt),
Madison
Kirkland,
Rachel
Kirkland;
by
his
great
grandchildren
Holden
Bowley,
Cameron
Bowley;
and
by
his
brothers
Darrell
Quillen
(Sue),
Ronald “Buck” Quillen (Linda).
A
memorial
service
will
be
held
at
First
Christian
Church
Inverness
on
January
5,
2023
at
2
pm,
located
at
2018
Colonade
St,
Inverness,
FL
34453.
