“Cricket”
Duff,
90
of
Alderson,
passed
away
Thursday,
October
24,
2024,
in
the
Peyton
Hospice
House,
Lewisburg.
He
was
born
August
14,
1934,
to
the
late
Dennis
and
Della
Duff
on
Muddy
Creek
Mountain.
Cricket
was the last surviving member of the Duff siblings.
Cricket
worked
a
host
of
jobs
throughout
his
life.
He
retired
from
Greenbrier
Manor
as
the
maintenance
supervisor
after
29
years
of
service.
Cricket
touched
many
people’s
lives
while
coaching
every
form
of
youth
sports
in
the
area.
He
was
also
instrumental
in
keeping
midget
football
alive
in
Alderson
for
many years. His passion was refereeing games and being the umpire.
There
are
many
Cricket
Duff
stories
to
cherish
and
remember.
He
got
great
enjoyment
telling
many
stories
of
his
younger
days
and
he
loved
to
sing.
Cricket
was
a
member
of
the
River
of
Life
Church
of
God.
There
was
not
a
more
“True
and
Devout
Aldersonian!”
Alderson
has
lost
another
great
dad,
friend,
neighbor,
and
legend.
Cricket
was
also
a
veteran
serving
during
the
Korean
War
as
a
Private
in
the
United States Army.
In
addition
to
his
parents,
Cricket
was
preceded
in
death
by
Barbara
his
wife
of
62
years,
son
Shawn
Hunter
Duff,
and
daughter
Deborah
DeLaine
Duff.
Those
left
to
cherish
their
memories
of
Cricket
are
his
sons
David
Paul
Duff
(Ryne)
of
Montpelier,
VT,
Eric
Scott
Duff
(Heather)
of
Alderson,
daughters
Leigha
Susette
Thomas
(Kevin)
of
Kenna,
and
Elizabeth
Colleen
Workman
(Mark)
of
Quinwood,
eight
grandchildren,
and
10
great-grandchildren,
seven
great-great
grandchildren,
and
several
nieces
and
nephews.
In
keeping
with
his
wishes,
Cricket
will
be
cremated,
and
no
services
will
be
held.
Those
wishing
to
memorialize
Cricket
are
encouraged
to
do
so
by
donating
to
the
Peyton
Hospice
House,

Avenue, Lewisburg, West Virginia 24901.
