True And Devout Aldersonians Proclaimed On Sunday, April 14, Mayor Travis Copenhaver declared four people “True and Devout Aldersonians” at a small reception in City Hall. They were Charles Marion Lobban, Jr., Mark Thue Ballard, Howard Rodgers McVey, III and E. S. “Tod” Hanger. Jr. All four shared the distinction of having served on the Alderson Town Council at some point in their careers. They also served on the Alderson Volunteer Fire Department, the July 4th Celebration Committee and in other capacities. In accepting the award, Tod Hanger said, “It has been a privilege and honor to serve this town.” Surrounded by family and friends, warm applause greeted each proclamation as decades of hard work was recognized and appreciated.
